UC Stingray Danger   2 comments

Watch out, UCSD! There’s angry stingrays at La Jolla Shores, and they’re coming for you!

UCSD Stingrays has a nicer ring to it than Tritons to me. At least there’s stingrays around and ready for battle.

Apparently about 40 people were stung by stingrays at La Jolla Shores, at the very place UCSD students always go to. Two people got sent to the hospital, and this made national news- I saw it on Fox News this morning (so it may or may not be true), but I find this to be pretty exciting. I would like to sharpen a stick, spear one, and throw it on the barbecue. I imagine it’s pretty rubbery, so it’d be important not to overcook it.

Anyways, we all know a pissed off stingray killed Steve Irwin, and that’s unforgivable, so death to all stingrays. They tried to kill 40 San Diego beach goers as well, so return the favor. All the news outlets seem to have reached a consensus on how to avoid getting stung by a ray.

Incredibly, not going into the water is not the proposed precaution. However, if you make the decision to go into the water, you’re supposed to shuffle your feet as you make your way through the water. LeBron James demonstrates. So, La Jolla Shores waders, shuffle them feet to scare off them rays.

To have a sunnier day
Don’t get stung by a ray,
Do the La Jolla Village Jive
Down La Jolla Village Drive.

(I imagine the jive mentioned above employs the shuffling of feet.)

Be safe, swimmers!

  1. I cannot believe this is true!

  2. This is really unbelivable. I cannot believe in this article.
