UCSD Free Weekend Parking Tracker: Still Free!   1 comment

Free Weekend Parking Status: Last checked– 9/23/11. Enjoy the first free parking weekend of the school year.
I have heard no word about “Free September Parking,” and the UCSD parking website makes no mention of it.

Parking is free during the following times:

  • Weekends: Parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Late nights: Parking is free 11 p.m. – 7 a.m. weekdays. However, overnight parking is not allowed 2–5 a.m.

From Spring ’10 onwards, there have been many reports that UCSD will no longer have free parking on weekends. Parking fees on weekends was to begin for Summer Quarter ’10, but was suspended and was then going to be instituted for Fall Quarter ’10, which has not taken effect.
The UCSD transportation website declares, “No permit is needed during late nights, weekends, and all day on holidays. See the free parking section below for details.” The UCSD Guardian has reported that increased parking fees and the end of weekend parking were to commence as early as  November 2010, but solid details are few. As of September 2011, no word. So enjoy free weekend and holiday parking.

It’s even in the picture: Monday – Friday, 7AM – 11PM.

Hooray for now! It’s subject to change.
